Day 1 – Drive from Haridwar to Barkot (210 KM, 7-8 Hrs, Altitude 1220M)

Your journey begins with an early morning meeting at your hotel, the airport, or the railway station, followed by a short briefing before setting off. The 210-km drive to Barkot takes you to a town sitting at the confluence of the Yamuna and Tons rivers, with panoramic views of the snow-capped Bandarpoonch peak.

Check into your hotel on arrival and rest for the night — this first day is really about acclimatising to mountain travel before Day 2's trek begins.

Day 2 – Barkot to Jankichatti to Yamunotri to Barkot (35 KM Drive, 12 KM Trek, Altitude 3293M)

After breakfast, you'll drive to Jankichatti or Phoolchatti, from where the roughly 6-km trek to Yamunotri Temple begins, walkable on foot or covered by horse or doli at your own cost. The trail winds through a lush valley of conifers, rhododendrons, and Himalayan shrubs.

At Yamunotri, pilgrims traditionally bathe in the warm waters of Surya Kund before offering darshan to Goddess Yamuna. After the return trek, you'll drive the 35 km back to Barkot for the night — pace yourself on this climb, since it's your first real physical test of the trip.

Day 3 – Barkot to Uttarkashi (100 KM, 4 Hrs, Altitude 1352M)

A comparatively relaxed day — a 100-km, 4-hour drive to Uttarkashi with a stop at Shiv Gufa along the way. Uttarkashi is home to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, believed to be one of the oldest temples in the region and, per the Skanda Purana, considered Lord Shiva's home during Kaliyug.

After checking into your hotel, the rest of the day is free, giving your body genuine recovery time before the Gangotri leg tomorrow.

Day 4 – Uttarkashi to Gangotri to Uttarkashi (200 KM Total, Altitude 3050M)

An early start takes you toward Gangotri, with a stop at Gangnani Hot Spring for a holy dip along the way, before continuing through the scenic Harsil valley. You'll drive to Sonprayag and continue by government taxi another 5 km to Gaurikund, the starting point of the Kedarnath trek. From here, you can trek the full 18 km, take a helicopter at your own cost, or hire a palki.

Day 7 – Kedarnath to Sonprayag (20 KM Drive, 18 KM Trek, Altitude 1352M)

Day 8 – Sonprayag to Joshimath/Pipalkoti (150 KM, Altitude 1800M)

The journey continues toward Joshimath via the scenic Chopta route, reaching your destination by evening. You can visit Narsingh Mandir and explore the local market before settling in for the night.

This day acts as a genuine transition between the Kedarnath and Badrinath legs, giving strained muscles a chance to recover before the final major darshan day.

Day 9 – Joshimath to Badrinath to Joshimath (90 KM, Altitude 3300M)

After breakfast, you'll drive to Badrinath, visit the temple, and take a customary dip in the Tapt Kund hot spring.
